  • Tea ceremonies at Camellia are performed in English.

  • If you intend to bring a translator, we ask that you book a private tea ceremony at Camellia Flower teahouse or Camellia Garden teahouse.

  • If you have any language requests or concerns, do not hesitate to get in touch.

notes for parents

  • Matcha has a high caffeine content, much like a strong coffee. Because of this, we prefer not serve Matcha to children under 6, but leave the final decision to parents.

  • Small children are more than welcome at Camellia, but we do ask a small favour of parents during the shared tea ceremony. The tea ceremony itself (the main focus of the session) lasts from 10-15 minutes and is performed in silence. So that everyone can enjoy the peace of this moment we ask that parents take any crying or fidgeting children down to the waiting room before re-joining the group once the ceremony part is complete. We very much appreciate your understanding in this matter.

when is it best to make a reservation?

  • We recommend you make a reservation or call in advance, especially during popular seasons (it is especially busy during cherry blossom season and for autumn colours) or if you are a big group.

  • If you happen to be close to our teahouse, but don’t have a booking, please pop in to check availability with a member of our staff. If the sessions are fully booked for the day, they can help you make a reservation for another time.
